Located along the Isarco River, the project for the new Milland Sports Park south of Bressanone integrates harmoniously into the alpine landscape. The goal is to transform the area into an accessible and livable recreational hub where athletes and citizens can meet and enjoy the surrounding nature. This is an innovative new construction project, conceived through a design competition, which enhances the river space and creates a significant visual axis towards the Plose mountain.
Sustainability is at the heart of the project: the use of natural materials and green roofs reduces the environmental impact and improves energy efficiency. “We wanted to create a space that was not only functional but also an extension of the landscape,” says architect Marco Sette. Bicycle and pedestrian paths cross the area, ensuring a smooth connection between the different functions - restaurants, tennis courts and gyms - which are concentrated around a central distribution point. Parking spaces are positioned under the ground, keeping the upper area free for recreational activities and green spaces.

The architecture blends seamlessly with the landscape, evoking the surrounding topography. “Our ambition is to create a democratic space, accessible to all age groups” says Sette. The architectural forms integrate into the natural context, with structures that "slide" into the ground, ensuring a low visual impact. Large windows foster interaction between the interior and exterior, creating a continuous dialogue between users and the natural environment.
This park becomes a place for socialization and recreation for the entire community, responding to the need for green spaces. “The park is the beating heart of the project, an element that unites and engages the community,” says the mayor of the city. It is an idea of architecture that celebrates movement and inclusion, designed for all age groups and accessible to everyone.
